Hoax bomb scare at Satna school, cops suspect mischief
Bhopal: Panic gripped a public school in Satna after a poster in the name of slain UP gangster and former MP Atiq Ahmed threatened to blow up the compound unless an amount of Rs 10 lakh was paid.
The poster was found pasted on the notice board of the Govt Middle School in Kathwariya village in the Kothi police station area of Satna on Monday.
Teachers spotted the poster when they arrived in the morning and immediately alerted police.
The poster carried the line: "Atiq is dead, but his henchmen are not", warning of an impending bomb attack on the school.
A police team soon arrived at the spot, removed the poster and launched an investigation.
The sleuths said the school's headmaster, Arun Pandey, lodged a complaint in connection with the poster threat.
"There was nothing in the preliminary investigation to support the claim made in the poster. However, the probe continues and we will decide on further action based on the findings.
Officers said, prima facie, it appeared to be the handiwork of random miscreants but all possible angles were looked into.
It wasn't the first incident of its kind in Satna as there had been previous hoax calls or alerts, including anonymous emails, warning of bomb attacks on the district court and post office.
