Horror in Gujarat: A 7-year-old Girl was Raped and Brutally Assaulted With an Iron Rod; a 35-year-old Suspect Has Been Arrested

The Rajkot district has been gripped by shock and revulsion following the arrest of a 35-year-old farm labourer in connection with the horrific rape and brutal assault of a seven-year-old girl. The gravity of the crime is highlighted by the accused's alleged use of a one-foot iron rod inserted into the victim's private parts.

The victim is currently undergoing critical treatment at a government children's hospital in Rajkot, where authorities report her condition is stable, though the extent of her physical trauma is severe. The accused has been identified as Ramsingh, a native of Madhya Pradesh who had been working in the Rajkot rural area as a farmhand for the past two years.

The Disturbing Events of December 4

The assault occurred on December 4 in a village under the Atkot police station's jurisdiction. The victim’s parents, who had migrated from Dahod to work as agricultural labourers, were occupied in the nearby fields when Ramsingh allegedly kidnapped the child.

According to police reports, Ramsingh took the seven-year-old to an isolated spot near the fields. There, he gagged and assaulted her. Her parents, who soon realized she was missing, began a desperate search and tragically found their daughter bleeding profusely. She was immediately rushed to a local hospital before being referred to Rajkot for specialized care.

Intensive Manhunt and Identification

The nature of the attack prompted an immediate and intense investigation by the Rajkot Rural Police. Led by Superintendent of Police (SP) Vijaysinh Gurjar, the team began by compiling a comprehensive list of all potential suspects.

SP Gurjar outlined the meticulous process of narrowing down the culprit:

"We narrowed down on 10 individuals and showed their photos to the victim with the help of a child counsellor, female police officers, and doctors. She identified one person, who was detained and grilled."

This focused investigative work, guided by the victim's identification, led to the detention of Ramsingh.

Accused Confesses to Police

During questioning, Ramsingh who is tragically a father himself, with a 12-year-old daughter and two sons confessed to the horrific act.

SP Gurjar provided details on the motive and chronology of the assault:

"During questioning, the accused confessed to the crime. He attempted to sexually assault the girl near a water tank near the field around 11am on Dec 4. When he failed, he flew into rage and injured the girl with an iron rod."

The police have detained the accused and are working swiftly to file a robust charge sheet to ensure justice is delivered for the young victim and her family.
