Hyderabad YouTuber Bonu Komali Dies by Suicide After Sending Heartfelt Text to Mother

Hyderabad police are investigating the death of Bonu Komali, a 21-year-old BSc student and part-time YouTuber, whose body was discovered in her rented apartment in the Manikonda area on February 23, 2026. Hours before she was found, Komali sent an emotional text message to her mother, B Satya Varalakshmi, who works in Kuwait, expressing love and asking her mother to take care of her younger brother.

According to police and media reports, Komali had been living alone in Hyderabad for nearly 11 months while pursuing her degree at a private college and creating lifestyle and personal content for YouTube. Her mother received the message in the early hours of the day and, when subsequent calls went unanswered, she asked a friend to check on her daughter. When the friend could not get a response at the flat, law enforcement officers were called.

Around 3 pm, authorities gained entry after breaking the latch on the door. Inside, Komali was found hanging from a ceiling fan, with a ladder and a saree recovered at the scene. The body was taken to Osmania General Hospital for post-mortem examination, and police registered a case of suspicious death to understand the exact circumstances leading to her death.

Preliminary inquiries suggest that emotional distress following a lengthy relationship dispute may have been a factor. According to investigators, Komali was involved in a three-year relationship with a 27-year-old software engineer who was also active on YouTube, and the couple reportedly parted ways recently. In addition, police said she had previously attempted suicide about six months ago, indicating longstanding emotional struggles.

Investigators are gathering digital and physical evidence, including phone records, text messages, and statements from friends and neighbours, to construct a clearer timeline of events and motivations. A diary recovered from the flat reportedly contained personal reflections on her feelings during the relationship, including unrequited love and emotional pain linked to recent developments.

Friends and acquaintances have described Komali as an ambitious student who balanced her academic work with creating content for her channel. The circumstances around her death have sparked discussions online and among local community members about mental health, emotional resilience, and the importance of supportive relationships for young adults living away from family.
