Bengaluru, often celebrated as India’s tech hub, is known for its endless opportunities. But a recent incident has highlighted the city’s harsher side. A man with 14 years of banking experience was spotted sitting on a pavement near a busy traffic signal, holding a board that read he had lost both his job and his home.

The sight shocked many, as someone with such long experience is usually expected to enjoy stability. While some social media users expressed sympathy, calling him a victim of tough times, others argued that his personal choices may have contributed to his situation.

Man With Banking Experience Found Begging in Bengaluru

According to a Reddit post, the man sat by the roadside with a sign that read: “I don’t have a job, no house, please help me. I have 14 years of banking experience."

The individual who shared the post wrote, “IT grad in the Silicon Valley of India’s signal. Came across this man at a prominent Bengaluru signal. As heartbreaking as it is to see him, I keep wondering if this is a result of society’s failure or personal choices?"

Social Media Divided Over Man’s Plight

The viral post drew mixed reactions online, with some sympathizing with the man’s struggles and others questioning his choices.

One user asked if the man was physically challenged, writing: “I am not trying to be rude, but everyone is struggling in their life. No one has it easy, unless you come from a wealthy family with generational wealth. Everyone has to work through challenges and find their own way, and Bangalore, as a city, offers opportunities to everyone. This guy appears young, so, unless he has some physical disabilities, there is no reason for him to be in this situation,"

Another commented more empathetically: “Life of a man, no respect unless you earn. Judging him without knowing him."

Others highlighted systemic flaws, calling it “The harsh truth of our country, we barely got enough to even give 1% of the College passouts jobs."

A few commenters stressed the mental toll of unemployment. “Most people are commenting that if he’s physically able, he should be able to do some job like delivery or being a driver, etc. But the thing is, if you are unemployed for quite a bit of time, there are chances you are mentally broken and depressed. So there’s also a mental barrier."

Meanwhile, one individual claimed the man was unwilling to work, saying they had offered him a job but he refused. They also added that he is often seen sitting near Someshwara Temple on Mondays and outside Subramanya Temple in Halasuru on Tuesdays.
