I'm A Celebrity's Kelly Brook's brutal three words about her weight
Having launched her modelling career at the young age of 16, Kelly Brook is no stranger to her figure being under the microscope. Therefore, it comes as no surprise that she's ready to don a bikini for her iconic moment in the I'm a Celebrity jungle shower.
Following the path of fellow Loose Women panellist Myleene Klass, who made headlines nearly two decades ago for showering in a minuscule white bikini, Kelly - well-accustomed to posing in her swimwear and posting the photos online - will inevitably find her weight back in the spotlight.
The 45-year-old has embraced her evolving figure over the years and has always been candid about her feelings towards her body and how she deals with harsh comments from internet trolls. She has also explored the link between what the scales read and her overall happiness.
Kelly catapulted to fame as a lingerie model after being spotted by the Daily Star, which featured her as a Page Three Girl. She was named FHM's Sexiest Woman in the World in 2005 and made the shortlist almost every year thereafter.
But it wasn't just lads' mag readers who admired her sultry physique. A survey of more than 5,000 women voted hers the best British female body, reports the Mirror.
But the Heart Radio presenter has revealed being slim didn't necessarily mean she was happy and it was often quite the opposite.
"I think I definitely had my moments of feeling very insecure. When you go through break-ups and things like that, it really impacts your diet, and some of my skinniest times were also some of my most miserable," she told Grazia.
"The best part about getting older is that all those insecurities just fade away. You think outside yourself and are no longer as self-obsessed or self-focused. Right now, I'm not thinking about my stomach hanging over my jeans. I'm thinking about feeding this little cat that's just walked in my door."
Kelly, who wed long-term partner Jeremy Parisi in 2022, may feel confident in her own body but she's endured vicious remarks from internet trolls regarding her weight increase. In 2020 she disclosed she'd been labelled "past her best" and "unsexy".
"They see me as this 40-year-old fat girl and they're like no!" she told FEMAIL before graciously saying she understood why they thought that way. "I get it, it's funny. But people grow up, people get bigger, people change, it happens."
Despite her refreshing attitude towards putting on a few pounds, Kelly has confessed that she wasn't content with her weight in 2017 when she reached a size 16. A photographer bluntly instructed her to "breathe in" and 12 months later she began the SlimFast programme.
She shed two stone and dropped four dress sizes and is now a proud ambassador of the brand. "I wasn't feeling happy in my body. I wanted to lose weight, and now I've lost it. I'm maintaining it and feel really good," she admitted to the Mirror last year while preparing for the London Marathon.
Despite being a strong advocate for body positivity, she admitted accepting her transformed figure can be "tricky".
"I'm just trying to embrace the changes as I get older. I'm not trying to hold on to the body of my 21-year-old self, I've got to embrace that it's different," she expressed.
"It's tricky though, I was trying a dress on in a shop the other day and, you know, 20 years ago I'd be able to put anything on and feel fabulous.
"ut now my boobs aren't as high as they once were, I've got fat rolls on my back, and this and that - but I just embrace it. I do think we can be too hard on ourselves though.
"I've learned, especially training for the London Marathon, I just want to be fit and strong. I'm no longer into looking a certain way. I just want my body to work and be able to do amazing things."
Kelly has joined the ranks of celebrities such as Lisa Riley, Ruby Wax and Martin Kemp in the Australian jungle for the latest series of ITV's hit show, hosted by Ant and Dec..
