'I'm a vet and there's 1 breed that's more aggressive than pitbull'

A vet has sparked debate after sharing the dog breed he claims is "more aggressive than a pitbull" - but not everyone agrees. Veterinarian Amir Anwary uses his social media platforms to educate pet ownersand shareinformation they may struggle to find elsewhere.

As part of this, he posted a short TikTok video focusing on one specific dog breed. He wrote: "Everyone says that pitbulls are the most aggressive dog breed..." The clip then cuts to Amir staring through a slightly opened door, with the words "Belgian Malinois" imposed over the video.

In a separate video, he explained why first-time dog owners should stay away from Belgian Malinois, saying: "They’re not a normal dog, not a normal pet," instead describing the breed as a "machine".

  • Ditch pressure washers for 1 natural household item to remove moss from paving and patios
  • Remove oven grease stains with 1 household item – no elbow grease required

He explained: "This dog is not just an add-on to your life - this is your life. They need an incredible amount of physical and mental stimulation just to stay happy. You need to research this breed properly and make sure this is what you want before getting one."

Commenting on his video, one user said: "Aggressive is not the word I’d use to describe a Belgian Malinois - maybe psychotic, bats*** crazy, or downright insane. Anything along those lines."

Another added: "The problem with Malinois is that they’re too smart. In the hands of the wrong owner, it could be an absolute disaster."

A third user commented: "As a UPS driver, there are two breeds I’m terrified of - Chihuahuas and Malinois."

One more user added: "As an owner of a bully, I have to say I agree they definitely have a temper.

"He couldn’t get on the bed, so he took my blanket off me because the cat was sitting on the ottoman and he wouldn’t jump up from the side of the bed. He was mad because I was laughing."

Another user said: "I’ve worked in the ER for over 30 years, and the vast majority of dog bites are not only from pitbulls."

A final user added: "I’ve had pibbles my whole life and now have a Malinois.

"She’s just as cuddly - she isn’t a house hippo, more like Toothless from How to Train Your Dragon (she’s black with grey markings)."

When it comes to welcoming a dog into your home, vet Anwary urges owners to do their research and spent time with certain breeds before committing to them.

He says owners need to invest time into training their pet properly - whether this is through classes, at-home lessons, or socialisation.
