Vadodara: Volunteers from the Wildlife Rescue Trust (WRT) on Wednesday raided a house and recovered two Indian star tortoises. The reptiles were seized by WRT co-founder Tushar Uttekar and handed over to the forest department.

According to Uttekar, the man at whose residence the tortoises were found is a contractual employee at Sayajibaug. "He told us that his son had picked the tortoises from a nearby pond and kept them at home.

He denied trading in tortoises," Uttekar said. No complaint has been filed against the man.
