Netflix's latest psychological thriller, The Beast in Me, has just landed and it follows the life of reclusive author Aggie Wiggs, portrayed by Claire Danes.

After the tragic death of her son, she leads a solitary existence until Nile Jarvis, played by Matthew Rhys, moves into her neighbourhood.

Nile was previously implicated in the disappearance of his ex-wife Maddie, and Aggie becomes obsessed with uncovering the truth.

She dangerously gets close to Nile in her quest for the truth, putting her own life at risk.

Here's everything you need to know about the shocking conclusion of The Beast in Me, and whether Nile was responsible for his wife's death.

The final episode unveiled that Maddie was secretly working as an informant for FBI agent Brian Abbot, played by David Lyons.

Aware of her husband's dangerous nature, Maddie was determined to gather evidence to put him behind bars.

She was devastated when Abbot informed her he had to abandon his efforts to expose Nile, as she was convinced he had committed murder before.

After leaving the gallery, Maddie encountered Nina, her assistant, played by Brittany Snow, who had discovered Maddie's information leak, leading to a massive argument.

Devastated by Maddie's harsh words, Nina revealed to Nile that Maddie was trying to expose him.

Realising Maddie posed a threat, Nile did indeed murder his wife, brutally killing her with a sculpture. He later used the same method to kill Abbot.

Nile concealed Maddie's body at a landfill site, confident she would never be discovered.

In a shocking twist, Nile framed Aggie for Teddy Fenwick's death, only for his father Martin (Jonathan Banks) to uncover that it was actually Nile who was the killer.

Devastated by the revelation that his son had committed another murder, he suffered a stroke.

Meanwhile, flashbacks revealed that Aggie was responsible for her own son's death due to her inattention while driving.

Realising she needed to atone for her actions, she confessed to Teddy's murder but urged Nina to trust her gut feelings about Nile.

When Nina finally confronted her now-husband Nile, he confessed to murdering both Maddie and Teddy, yet continued to manipulate Nina.

However, Nina had tricked Nile into feeling secure, as she had secretly recorded his confession on her phone leading to his arrest by the police.

Nile's uncle Rick provided the police with sufficient evidence to imprison Nile, as both he and Martin were aware of his capabilities.

In a heartbreaking decision, he chose to end his brother Martin's life in hospital, so he would never witness Nile's downfall.

Nile received three consecutive life sentences after previously denying all accusations, while Aggie continued her prison visits.

She expressed her desire for him to have the final say and continued writing the book, but his uncle Rick arranged for Nile to meet his end in prison through his contacts, ensuring he got his just desserts.

Nina proceeded to have the baby she had conceived with Nile, but a flicker of apprehension was evident in her eyes as she pondered whether their child would take after its father.
