ITV reveal brand new dating show to help single farmers find love
Farmers in search of romance are about to receive help through a new dating programme.
ITV has revealed it has commissioned Farming For Love, a new series inspired by the TV show Farmer Wants a Wife, which has broadcast versions across various countries including the US and Australia.
Hugely successful, the format has resulted in more than 250 marriages and the birth of over 600 babies to date. Launching in 2001, it followed romantically unsuccessful farmers attempting to find their Mrs Right, and achieved worldwide acclaim.
A UK version aired in 2009, presented by Louise Redknapp, reports the Mirror.
The upcoming show - described as brimming with "heart, humour and authenticity" - will track single farmers pursuing their perfect match. Yet they aren't simply seeking romance, but also someone willing to embrace agricultural life.
Participating farmers must choose potential partners from applications, subsequently inviting them to relocate to the farm, where they'll encounter the realities of British farming life directly.
Whilst living and working alongside one another maintaining the farm, they'll discover whether romance develops.
At the conclusion of each journey, the farmers confront a difficult choice as they must select the candidate they consider could be their ideal partner.
Nicola Lloyd, creative director at producer Naked TV, commented: "Farming has never been more popular but finding love while running a farm remains a real challenge.
"Farming for Love has all the heart, humour and authenticity that make a great dating show, and I'm thrilled we will be helping people find love this time on British farms."
Katie Rawcliffe, ITV's director of entertainment, reality and daytime television, characterised the fresh dating programme as "a love story with farming at the heart of it". "Farming for Love is funny, feel good and heartwarming," she remarked.
The format Farmer Wants A Wife has been broadcast across more than 34 countries globally and marks its 25th anniversary this year.
