It seems that no one is escaping the penny-pinching of the cost-of-living crisis, as Jonathan Ross has cancelled his iconic Halloween bash, stating that they "cost a fortune." The broadcaster's highly anticipated Halloween parties have been the must-attend event for years.

The annual gathering would take place at his Hampstead residence and would always be packed with numerous celebrities. However, the legendary Halloween parties have now been scrapped following his appearance on the Celebrity Traitors. After becoming the first Traitor to be exposed, Jonathan disclosed to Ed Gamble on a bonus podcast episode of The Traitors: Uncloaked that none of his co-stars would be attending his Halloween celebration, as he isn't hosting one this year. During the episode, Jonathan was questioned about who he had befriended on the programme. He rattled off a series of names, including Joe Marler. He said: "Joe Marler - I met him a couple times and had him on my show a couple times and he was invited to my parties on Halloween, when I was still doing them."

The Traitors star went on to mention more names and discuss nearly everyone in the cast. After he had concluded, Ed said: "The main thing I took from that, Jonathan, is that you're not doing your Halloween parties anymore?"

"No, I'm afraid not," Jonathan replied. "I might do another one before I go, but they cost a fortune."

Ed joked that he was hoping this podcast would secure him an invitation. Jonathan then acknowledged this was part of the issue.

"Not you, but part of the problem was that, because we became such a well-known event, every time I did something people would be like, 'Are you doing a Halloween party?'"

Those individuals would request invitations and Jonathan would agree. "Of the adults I invited. I only genuinely knew 30% of them. And the others, I liked them all, but I didn't know them," he concluded.

This isn't the first occasion Jonathan has cancelled the festivities. They were also scrapped in 2020 due to the pandemic and only returned in 2022, where it was instead held at KOKO in Camden rather than his residence, as his daughter was dealing with fibromyalgia.

But in 2023, the party came back to his home. However, the focus shifted from celebrity guests to everyday trick-or-treaters.

Rather than the usual A-listers, youngsters were photographed outside Jonathan's property, preparing to knock on the door for some sweets.

Before the transformation, celebrities like Claudia Schiffer, Nicole Scherzinger and fellow Traitor Alan Carr would attend the bash. Alan is still on The Celebrity Traitors and has become a firm fan favourite.

He and Cat Burns are the only two Traitors remaining and are gearing up to 'murder' a faithful in plain sight. If they succeed, it will be the second murder in plain sight to occur on the programme, as Alan already killed off Paloma Faith that way.
