A shocking case of abuse has surfaced from Karnataka ’s Bagalkot district, where a 16-year-old differently-abled boy was allegedly brutally assaulted inside a residential school meant for children with special needs.

Disturbing Video Triggers Outrage

The incident took place at the Divyajyoti School for Differently Abled Children in the Navanagar area and came to light after a disturbing video began circulating online. The footage shows the teenager being repeatedly beaten with a belt and a plastic pipe.


Even after the boy collapses to the ground in pain, the assault continues. His legs are seen being held down as he cries for help, while those around him fail to intervene.

Chilli Powder Thrown Into Eyes


Police have identified Akshay Indulkar as the main accused, alleging that he led the assault. His wife, Anandi, is also seen in the video allegedly throwing chilli powder into the boy’s eyes, further intensifying the abuse.

Adding to the horror, the person filming the incident can be heard laughing instead of stepping in to stop the violence.

According to sources, the video was leaked by a former employee of the school. Once it surfaced, it sparked widespread anger among parents, disability rights activists and the general public, with many questioning how such abuse could occur inside a care institution.

FIR Filed, Accused Detained

Following a complaint by the victim’s parents, police registered an FIR in the case. Akshay Indulkar, his wife, and two other individuals associated with the school have been detained for questioning as part of the investigation.

Serious Questions Over Child Safety

The incident has raised serious concerns about safety, monitoring and accountability at institutions meant to protect children with disabilities. Calls are growing for stricter oversight, regular inspections and stronger safeguards to ensure such abuse is never repeated.


Police said further action will be taken based on the findings of the ongoing investigation.
