The traffic disruption occurred during a massive rally CPM organised against Sudhakaran, who announced his independent candidacy in Ambalapuzha, after leaving the party. The demonstration took place last Friday.

The rally began at the residence of former chief minister VS Achuthanandan in Paravoor and proceeded to Paravoor Junction, then along national highway, before concluding near govt higher secondary school after turning from Public Library Junction.

The prolonged traffic blockage on NH led to police filing the case.
