Honeymoon Horror Repeats: Husband Killed in Wife-Orchestrated Hit-And-Run

A quiet Friday evening in Rajasthan’s Sri Ganganagar took a horrifying turn when a newlywed couple stepped out for a walk. What first looked like a tragic hit-and-run soon unraveled into a cold-blooded murder planned from within the marriage itself.

Ashish died on the spot after being attacked, while his wife, Anju, was found unconscious nearby, claiming an unidentified vehicle had struck them. She also reported that her gold jewellery had been stolen. However, as investigators dug deeper, the story began to fall apart.

Police were alerted around 9 PM on January 30 after the couple was found lying on the road. Ashish was rushed to a nearby Community Health Centre, where doctors declared him dead. The scene was examined, and a forensic team was called in to assess the technical evidence.

"We were informed that a man had been hit by an unidentified vehicle, leading to his death. We surveyed the accident site and also called the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team to investigate from the technical point of view," said the Police.

Anju, 23, told the police that the couple had been hit during their evening walk. But officers noticed something disturbing, Ashish bore clear signs of strangulation, while Anju had no visible injuries. The mismatch between her account and the physical evidence raised immediate suspicion.

A crucial breakthrough came when Anju’s phone records were examined. Investigators found she was in constant contact with a man named Sanju, who lived near her hometown. The case soon began to echo Meghalaya’s infamous honeymoon murder , where a wife had plotted her husband’s killing and disguised it as an accident.

Ashish and Anju had married just three months earlier. Reports suggest Anju was unhappy with the marriage and returned to her hometown shortly after the wedding. There, she reconnected with her former boyfriend, Sanju, and the two allegedly planned Ashish’s murder.

According to police, Anju lured Ashish to an isolated road under the pretext of a walk. Sanju and his accomplices, Rocky, Badal, and Siddharth, were already hiding nearby. The group allegedly attacked Ashish, strangled him, and staged the scene to resemble a road accident.

To strengthen the robbery angle, Anju reportedly handed over her phone and earrings to the attackers and lay on the road pretending to be unconscious. However, the injury marks on Ashish’s neck ultimately exposed the truth.

All four accused have been arrested, and further investigation is ongoing. What began as a routine walk ended as a grim reminder that sometimes, the most dangerous conspiracies are hidden behind familiar faces.
