Man murders 50-year-old woman in Chennai, held

Chennai: A 35-year-old man has been arrested for murdering a 50-year-old woman whose body was found with injuries on the banks of Ayanambakkam Lake near Thiruverkadu. The accused has been identified as Suresh, a daily wage labourer.

Police said Suresh and Radha were in an extra-marital relationship for a year. On Feb 24, the duo consumed alcohol near the lake.

In an inebriated state, Radha spoke ill of Suresh's wife, which led to an argument. Suresh attacked her, smashing her head against a wall and hitting her with a beer bottle, killing her instantly. He abandoned the body and fled the scene.

On Feb 25, police recovered the body and sent it to the Government Kilpauk Medical College Hospital for postmortem. Based on inquiry, police arrested Suresh on Sunday. TNN
