Manchester United are gearing up for yet another big summer, as Sir Jim Ratcliffe and co. look to appoint a permanent successor to Ruben Amorim. The Portuguese tactician was sacked earlier this year, with Michael Carrick having taken charge on an interim basis.

Whether it's Carrick or someone else who gets the job full-time remains to be seen, but United will almost certainly be eyeing up new additions in the transfer market, whoever takes the reins permanently. With the January window out of the way and attention already turning towards the summer, Express Sport have detailed what United's starting XI could look like next season.

Goalkeeper: Lammens

United's new No.1 and a solid one at that. After a rocky few years with goalkeepers, the Red Devils seem to have settled on Senne Lammens, who has already proved his worth as one of Europe's best shot-stoppers since arriving at Old Trafford. For the first time in a while, United will enter the summer without much noise surrounding their goalkeeper position.

Defence: RYERSON, Yoro, Martinez, TRUFFERT

A lot of the focus for United in the summer could focus on the full-back department, with suggestions both left and right flanks could be improved. The right-back market is somewhat sparse, but Julian Ryerson could represent a worthwhile pickup. The 28-year-old has impressed at Borussia Dortmund, and would slot in alongside Leny Yoro and Lisandro Martinez at the back. Meanwhile, on the opposite side, Adrien Truffert has taken to Premier League football like a duck to water and it wouldn't be surprising to see a big club come knocking for Bournemouth's left-back.

Midfield: BALEBA, Mainoo, Fernandes

However, the primary position for recruitment is likely to be holding midfield, with Carlos Baleba once again being touted as a prospective signing. The anchorman has long been touted as a United signing, even if Brighton have whacked a £100million plus price tag on his shoulders. He'd be the perfect partner at the base of midfield for Kobbie Mainoo, while Bruno Fernandes is likely to operate in his typical attacking midfield role.

Attack: PALMER, Mbeumo, Cunha

And this is where the marquee signing comes into the picture. Reports surfaced last month that Cole Palmer has grown homesick, and given the playmaker is from Manchester and grew up as a boyhood United fan, thoughts turned to a potential Old Trafford switch. United would almost certainly have to finish inside the Champions League spots for Palmer to even consider a move, but just imagine how exciting that attack would be if he linked up with Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha.
