Minister lauds 7 students' show at Tokyo event
Suryabanshi Suraj on Saturday lauded a group of seven students from Odisha for representing Odisha at the Tokyo Global Finance Forum, calling their achievement ‘a moment of pride’.
Interacting with the students, the minister congratulated them for showcasing an innovative fintech project on a global platform. The team presented TranchiFy , a trust-based working capital platform designed for next-generation small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

The students were selected through the fintech and insurtech certificate programme, an initiative of the state govt in collaboration with the National University of Singapore’s Asian Institute of Digital Finance and the Global Finance and Technology Network. Suraj said the accomplishment reflects the growing capabilities of youth in the state. “Their success showcases the creativity, innovation and immense potential of our young minds. They have made Odisha proud on the global stage,” he said. The minister further noted that such initiatives are helping bridge the gap between academic learning and industry exposure, enabling students to compete at international forums.
Indian Knowledge Systems
The Indian Institute of Technology-Bhubaneswar has signed an MoU with the Bhaktivedanta Research Centre, Kolkata, to promote interdisciplinary research and advance Indian Knowledge Systems.
Last week, Dinakar Pasla, dean (sponsored research & industrial consultancy) at IIT Bhubaneswar signed the MoU with Sumanta Rudra, dean academics and trustee at BRC, in the presence of faculty members and officials from both institutions.
The collaboration aims to foster academic engagement in areas such as philosophy, digital humanities, and interdisciplinary studies, while strengthening research rooted in India’s traditional knowledge systems. Officials said the partnership reflects a shared commitment to education, research and knowledge dissemination by leveraging the strengths of both institutions.
As part of the agreement, IIT Bhubaneswar and BRC will jointly organise conferences, workshops, seminars, lecture series and public outreach programmes. The MoU also provides for collaborative research projects, academic publications and the development of interdisciplinary scholarship integrating humanities, social sciences and technology.
A major focus area will be digital humanities and manuscript studies, including digitisation, textual analysis and the creation of digital research tools and repositories.
