Delhi-Meerut Namo Bharat and Meerut Metro Launch: List of Major Stations on the Route

Newspoint
India’s first high-speed Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS), known as Namo Bharat, has begun operations on the Delhi-Meerut corridor, bringing a faster alternative to daily travel in the National Capital Region. The full route stretches about 82 kilometres and links major urban centres and transport hubs, making it easier to commute between Delhi, Ghaziabad and Meerut in under an hour at speeds of up to 160 km/h (design speed up to 180 km/h).

The route begins at Sarai Kale Khan RRTS Station in New Delhi, which has been developed as a multi-modal transit hub. Here, commuters can conveniently connect to the Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station, the Delhi Metro Pink Line, the Veer Haqeeqat Rai ISBT and other services, enhancing overall network integration.

From Sarai Kale Khan, the corridor moves into Delhi’s eastern suburbs with intermediate stations such as New Ashok Nagar and Anand Vihar. These serve as important boarding points for residents of eastern and central parts of the capital and offer connections with local metro networks.

The system then enters Ghaziabad, where several key stations play a role in connecting suburban communities. Among these are Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar and Duhai. These stops provide access to densely populated city areas and help distribute rapid rail capacity across a wider catchment.

Continuing into Western Uttar Pradesh, the RRTS passes through Muradnagar and Modinagar South and North. These stops not only serve local commuters but also provide connections to road networks and future feeder transport services.

As the corridor nears Meerut, the Meerut South station marks an important transition point between the regional and city metro system. From here, passengers can transfer to the expanding Meerut Metro network, which runs alongside sections of the RRTS and stops at additional local stations.

Within Meerut, the route continues to Shatabdi Nagar and Begumpul, which are key stops serving the city’s residential and business districts. These stations are part of the integrated rail service network where both RRTS trains and Meerut Metro trains operate on shared infrastructure in some stretches.

At the final end of the corridor lies Modipuram RRTS Station, the terminal point of the line. Modipuram also serves as a major interchange with the Meerut Metro, offering passengers access to further intra-city travel options. The station features modern rail facilities including multiple platforms and parking, and is designed to accommodate future growth of the transit network.

The development of these stations - from Sarai Kale Khan through Ghaziabad to Meerut South and Modipuram - creates an integrated rapid transit spine that greatly improves travel times, supports urban expansion and makes commuting between Delhi and the far-flung suburbs faster, more comfortable and more sustainable.
