According to police officials, the woman reached the Rampur Baghelan police station on Saturday night, where her statement was recorded by female officers. She alleged that Singh had been threatening and misbehaving with her for some time. “In her statement, she said that he used to come to her shop and abuse and pressurise her into vacating the shop. He made objectionable demands if she didn't vacate the shop. Based on her complaint, the accused has been booked under relevant sections, and also been rounded up,” Rampur Baghelan police station in-charge Sandeep Chaturvedi told TOI.

The case drew attention after a video surfaced online, purportedly showing Singh threatening the woman. In the clip, he is allegedly heard saying, “What will happen to me? Nothing will happen. Complain wherever you want.” The woman can be heard crying and saying she would approach the police. The video triggered anger on social media, with claims that Singh was also seen abusing a police officer while asserting that no action could be taken against him.

Ashok Singh is the husband of a BJP councillor in the Rampur Baghelan Nagar Parishad. An FIR has since been registered against him, and police confirmed that the woman’s statement has been officially recorded.

The matter also involves serious allegations made by the woman in a separate written complaint submitted to Satna Superintendent of Police Hansraj Singh. She alleged that Singh raped her at knifepoint around six months ago. According to her complaint, Singh entered her house, assaulted her, recorded the act on his mobile phone, and threatened to kill her and her family if she spoke about it.

The survivor said she remained silent out of fear but was allegedly targeted again on December 20. She claimed Singh molested her and repeated his threats, demanding that she continue to comply with his wishes or face public humiliation through the release of the video.

She further alleged that Singh regularly visits her shop, verbally abuses her, and threatens her, creating an atmosphere of fear. The woman also claimed that Singh has a criminal background and was previously externed from the district, which she believes made him act without fear of consequences.

Following the complaint and the viral video , the Satna SP transferred the investigation to Deputy Superintendent of Police Manoj Trivedi. Police officials said they are verifying the authenticity of the video and examining all available evidence.

The woman has also alleged police inaction, claiming she approached authorities five days earlier but no concrete steps were taken. She warned that the police would be responsible if any harm came to her or her family as the probe continues.
