GURGAON: The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has urged all private offices and institutions to operate remotely, and all schools to shift to online classes on Tuesday as authorities brace for more rainfall following an orange weather alert.

The advisory, issued by the Gurgaon deputy commissioner, who heads DDMA, said it aims to mitigate traffic snarls, ensure public safety and minimise disruption as the city received over 100mm of rainfall between 3pm and 8pm on Monday.

Residents, officials said on Monday, should stay indoors as much as possible and avoid unnecessary travel. If traveling is necessary, they should keep track of weather updates.

A copy of the advisory, issued on Monday night, was sent to the District Information and Public Relations Office (DIPRO) for circulation.

The district education officers (DEO/DEEO) have also been tasked with ensuring compliance in all educational institutions, including private and govt schools.

Emergency services remain on standby as officials continue assessing the situation.
