WARNING: This article contains significant spoilers from Outlander season 8, episode 3

Outlander's eighth season delivered a major plot twist this week, following its recent divisive return.

Claire Fraser (portrayed by Caitríona Balfe) rescued an infant's life when a woman gave birth to twins at her clinic on Fraser's Ridge, reports the Daily Record.

The child seemed to be dead after Claire assisted in delivering the second baby. She took the infant aside in an attempt to resuscitate it.

Despite her best efforts, the child appeared to die, but through sheer determination, Claire miraculously revived the baby. This scene has led viewers to question whether Claire possesses superpowers.

Yes, is the succinct answer. As in the Outlander novels by Diana Gabaldon, a Native American woman informs Claire in season four that she will possess healing powers once her hair starts to turn white.

The woman tells Claire: "When your hair is like snow, you will have wisdom beyond time."

In this week's episode, titled Abies Fraseri, Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) points out to Claire that her hair is turning white, indicating that her powers are about to manifest.

Much like Master Raymond (Dominique Pinon), who is Claire's ancestor, she can now heal with "blue light".

This reflects how he saved Claire's life in season two using the blue light.

Claire was on the brink of death after delivering her stillborn daughter, Faith, but with his healing abilities, Master Raymond saved her.

He refers to her as 'Madonna' because he can perceive her blue aura, which indicates to him that she possesses powers.

In the ninth Outlander novel, Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone, which the final season is adapted from, it's disclosed that Claire's abilities finally emerge in full force now that her hair is the colour of moonlight.

Without revealing too much, in the novel Claire utilises her powers and heals key characters in some crucial moments.

Viewers have flocked to social media to discuss the major revelation as one individual posted on X (formerly Twitter): "#Outlander Claire's hair has turned white and she has the blue light healing power."

A second posted: "So Claire saved the baby and it was all blue around her like master Raymond said she had was a color of blue, When she lost faith. She must now possess the same powers as master Raymond and this definitely could be how faith survived. He did what Claire just did. #outlander [sic]."

A third person remarked: "A blue light...seeped...from my fingers into her body and I felt her heart beat again.

"You are a brilliant healer Claire. I've witnessed it myself. I've seen you bring people back from the brink of death before.

"YES SHE IS IN HEALER CLAIRE WE FOREVER TRUST #Outlander [sic]."

A fourth simply wrote on the platform: "The baby has risen #Outlander." Yet another chimed in: "so the faith storyline is truly canon?? She was alive?? Does Claire's healing powers confirm that? #outlander [sic]."

Outlander season 8 airs on Starz in the USA on Fridays and on MGM+ via Prime Video in the UK on Saturdays
