Hollywood legend Pedro Pascal looked unrecognisable as he hit the red carpet at the Oscars 2026 - but soon sparked concern from fans with his drastically changed appearance. The Materialists star, 50, still looked dapper as ever in a crisp white shirt embroidered with a huge flower, tucked into a pair of smart black trousers.

Pedro added a leather watch to one wrist and held up a peace sign, wearing a pair of metal-rimmed glasses. But noticeably missing from his ensemble was his trademark moustache, as he went clean-shaven for the event - bearing a striking resemblance to Hollywood heavyweight Liam Neeson.

Fans worried he had been replaced by a "lookalike", much as they worried over Jim Carrey's appearance earlier this year.

One X user quipped: "A wax figure of Pedro Pascal was unveiled at tonight's Academy Awards."

As another said: "Not used to seeing a clean-shaven Pedro1 Had to double take."

Somebody else echoed: "This is not the real Pedro Pascal, it's a clone like Jim Carrey!"

It comes as the ceremony was halted by host Conan O'Brien as he issued an "attack" warning.

O'Brien told his audience that security is "tighter" than usual - but quickly turned it into a joke about Timothee Chalamet's recent remarks regarding opera and ballet.

He quipped: "Security is extremely tight tonight, I've just got to mention that. I'm told there's concerns about attacks from both the opera and ballet communities. They're just mad you left out jazz!" The camera quickly cut to Chalamet in the audience, who was grinning and slightly red-faced.

However, in reality, security has been beefed up due to warnings from the FBI that California is at risk from Iran attacks after US military actions were launched.
