Penny Lancaster has revealed she is having to sit out her police work due to a leg injury.

The model and TV star - who is married to singer Rod Stewart - works as a special constable in London but is currently nursing an Achiiles injury.

Penny opened up as she appeared on The One Show on Tuesday (March 3), as she chatted to the BBC programme's presenters Alex Jones and Lauren Laverne.

She shared: "I absolutely love it. I currently have got a bit of an Achilles injury so I'm getting there."

"But you'll be back?" said Alex, as the star confirmed: "I'll be back."

Penny became a special constable after taking part in Channel 4 reality show Famous And Fighting Crime in 2019, which gave her the opportunity to experience what it was like to be a volunteer with the Cambridgeshire Police.

The following year she said in an Instagram Live chat: "It was terrifying, terrifying, but I never felt more comfortable in a position and I felt like this was where I was supposed to be."

Penny also revealed that she had signed up to become a special constable and was set to go through the training process.

Asking what the role was like, The One Show's Lauren said: "You've encountered shoplifters many times I'm sure. I mean no day on the job is the same for you is it?"

"Absolutely," Penny replied. "In the city of London that's where I patrol, foot patrol mostly, once a week and you come across all sorts. A lot of the time predominantly what we're dealing with currently is of course phone theft and bag snatching.

"So it's a case of like being out there and making people aware of their surroundings. Being more observant and you know because it's so easy especially when the weather gets nicer and people are spending time outside of work late at a bar standing outside and they leave their bags unattended and move away."

She went on: "So it's just making people more aware and the same with the phone sort of standing on the corner of a street but sort of facing a building so you're not as susceptible."
