Popular UK store closes 'last original shop' as locals call it 'nail in the coffin'

A popular UK store has left the customers heartbroken after it confirmed the closing of its another high street store. Superdrug is shutting its branch at 38A High Street in Dudley, West Midlands.

The shop, which closed on Saturday (January 31) has stayed on the street for 40 years. However, the site will then reopen as bargain chain Savers on February 12, reports The Sun. The heartbreaking news was shared by a social media user on TikTok as the locals called it "another nail in the coffin".

The video posted by Dudley Savers read: "Goodbye Superdrug. Hello Savers." According to staff members, the new store will open "with the same friendly faces you all know and love".

Several locals quickly flocked to express their sadness over the closure of the store. One of the users wrote: "Another nail in the coffin and further demise of Dudley."

Another commented: "Shame. A good variety of make up in there."

A third user described it as "one of the last original shops".
