In yet another major blow to the high street, Poundland has confirmed the locations of several more stores earmarked for closure. This comes after a flurry of store closures from the iconic retailer at the end of 2025, after it confirmed it would undergo a major restructuring.

Poundland has confirmed that nine more stores have been earmarked for closure between January 18 and February 16, with five next month alone. This follows the closure of over 100 locations since June last year.

The retailer previously announced plans to shut 68 shops and two warehouses following its takeover by investment firm, Gordon Brothers, which put 1,300 jobs at risk. It concluded its main store closure programme in September, with 57 stores shut and a further 11 closures put on hold. Since then, 50 more closures have been announced due to leases expiring or landlords serving notice.

Poundland revealed that these new locations will join other stores with clearance sales, offering up to 40% off all stock.

All items, including homeware, groceries, clothing, and beauty buys, will be marked down until sold.

Poundland expects to operate a network of around 650 to 700 stores, down from around 800 at the start of its restructuring.
