PPU girls outside boys in bagging PG gold medals

Patna: Patliputra University (PPU) has released the list of gold medallists for its fifth convocation based on the cumulative grade point average (CGPA), and the results highlight a strong performance by girl students. Of the total 31 gold medals awarded to postgraduate students of the academic session 2023-25, as many as 22 of them have been secured by girls, outnumbering their male counterparts.

The university will hold its fifth convocation on Jan 29 at S K Memorial Hall here. Governor-cum-chancellor Arif Mohammed Khan will be the chief guest on the occasion, PPU registrar Abu Bakar said.

According to him, the gold medals will be awarded to meritorious postgraduate students from various faculties. He described the dominance of girl students among the toppers as a positive reflection of their consistent academic excellence and growing participation in higher education. In addition to the gold medallists, the university has also decided to felicitate PhD awardees who were conferred their degrees up to Dec 31, 2025 during the convocation ceremony, he said.

PPU examination controller Manoj Kumar said the university has invited eligible students to register themselves for the convocation through the university’s official website. Online registration has been thrown open from Jan 8 to 15, and the candidates have been advised to complete the process within the stipulated time by visiting www.ppup.ac.in., he said.

Students from the city-based A N College have bagged six gold medals followed by four each from College of Commerce, Arts and Science; J D Women’s College, Patna and Nalanda College, Biharsharif while three each bagged by B D College, Patna and R L S Y College, Bakhtiyarpur, PPU examination controller said.

Kumar said the detailed guidelines regarding registration, issuance of certificates and participation in the convocation ceremony have been made available on the university website urging students to regularly check official notifications to avoid any inconvenience. The upcoming convocation is expected to witness the participation of a large number of students, faculty members and guests, marking an important academic milestone for the university, he said.
