Panaji: Oil-marketing companies have increased the price of premium petrol across the country, with prices in Goa for high-octane fuels now hovering around Rs 105 per litre. These fuels, which are sold under the brands of Speed, Power and XP95, were retailing at around Rs 103 per litre.

Driven by the spike in crude oil prices, Indian Oil , Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL), and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) have hiked prices by Rs 2.09 to Rs 2.35 per litre, with the final price differing marginally depending on the fuel retailer and the location of the fuel station in Goa.

Global crude oil prices have jumped to multi-year highs because of the hostilities in West Asia. Fuel pump owners reiterated that prices of regular petrol and diesel remain unchanged.

“The companies held a conference call with the retail outlets. Global prices have witnessed a significant upside. They told us there is enough fuel stock. There is no need to panic,” said the owner of a Bharat Petroleum fuel station at Porvorim.
