Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Montecito life faces major change

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry could see a major change to their lives in Montecito after one of their celebrity neighbours has sold a chunk of her estate for £12.8m [$17.2m]. The couple have lived in California since 2020, having moved there with their son, Prince Archie, after stepping down from royal life.

Just a year after their move, Meghan and Harry welcomed their daughter, Princess Lilibet, in June 2021. American host and television producer Oprah Winfrey is said to be close friends with Harry and Meghan, having previously expressed that she was "100 per cent in support" of her Montecito neighbours after their move to the US.

Harry, Meghan and their children could soon see some changes to the local area as Oprah sells part of her own Montecito estate.

According to a local news outlet, Sightline Santa Barbara, Oprah, 71, is reportedly parting ways with four acres of her property that she previously purchased in 2019 from actor Jeff Bridges.

Jeff listed the home for just under £5.9million [$8million], before he reduced the price to £5.6million [$7.5million].

After purchasing the home for £5.12million [$6.85 million], Oprah is thought to have made a profit of £7.4million [$10million] in the past six years.

Oprah has known Meghan for many years, and was one of the high-profile guests invited to her royal wedding to Harry in Windsor back in 2018.

Although she had known Meghan at the time of their wedding, it is thought that she had never met Harry.

It is thought that Meghan and Oprah were first introduced through the American network CBS and met when Oprah was in London.

Oprah has previously requested to interview Meghan but her request was declining, with Meghan believing that it was "not the right time". She later interview Harry and Meghan during their infamous sit-down chat in 2021.
