Punjab DSP Daljit Singh dies at 51 after prolonged kidney illness; cremation with state honours today

PTC Web Desk:  In a significant loss to the Punjab Police, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Daljit Singh, known for his firm action against drug trafficking, passed away on Monday late evening. He was 51 and had been battling a serious kidney ailment for a long time.

DSP Daljit Singh had been undergoing treatment at Max Hospital, where he was on regular dialysis due to kidney failure. He had been on medical leave for nearly a year as his health condition deteriorated.

At the time of his illness, he was posted in the Anti-Narcotic Wing of the Ludhiana Rural Police, where he had served for several years. During his tenure, he led multiple operations against drug traffickers and earned a reputation as a firm and fearless officer committed to curbing the narcotics menace in the state.

Colleagues described him as an upright and dedicated officer who performed his duties with honesty, integrity and courage. 

The news of his demise cast a pall of gloom across the police fraternity, with senior officials and colleagues expressing deep condolences. The department has termed his death a major loss, remembering him as a committed and sincere officer. His last rites will be performed on Tuesday at his native village in Patiala district with full state honours.
