Railways rolls out queue system for passengers to board trains
Patna: In view of heavy rush of passengers returning to their destinations after Holi, the railways has implemented a queue-based boarding system at all major stations, including Rajendra Nagar Terminal and Danapur, to streamline passenger movement.
The arrangement is being strictly enforced for the New Delhi-bound Sampoorna Kranti Express , one of the most sought-after trains during the festive return period.
Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel have been deployed in large numbers to regulate queues and ensure smooth boarding of the passengers.
According to Danapur senior divisional commercial manager (senior DCM) Abhinav Siddarth, the railways has initiated special measures to tackle the surge in passenger traffic. At least 10 to 15 special trains are originating daily from the Danapur division to help clear the post-Holi rush, he said.
Under the special arrangements, railway officials and commercial staff have been stationed at the Patna Junction, Danapur and other major stations to monitor crowd management and assist the passengers. The railways has also introduced holding areas for the passengers arriving early at the stations, he said. The passengers reaching Patna Junction or Danapur well ahead of their train’s arrival are asked to wait in these designated holding areas and enter the station premises or platforms only when their train arrives, he said.
To facilitate local commuters, unreserved ticketing system (UTS) devices have been installed in the holding areas so that passengers can obtain tickets without any hassle. In addition, war rooms have been set up at the ECR headquarters in Hajipur and at the Danapur control room to keep a close watch on passenger movement through CCTV cameras across key locations, Siddarth said, adding regular announcements through the public address system at stations is being made while updates about train movements are being shared through social media platforms also.
