Saraogi on temple spree before taking charge as state BJP chief today
Patna: Two days after being appointed as the state BJP president, six-time MLA from Darbhanga and former minister Sanjay Saraogi on Wednesday visited several prominent pilgrimage sites, ancient places and temples across the district.
Saraogi will arrive in Patna on Thursday and formally assume the charge at the party’s state headquarters, a BJP spokesperson said.

Accompanied by thousands of party workers, Saraogi first reached Baba Kusheshwar Asthan Temple, popularly known as the Babadhham of Mithila, on Wednesday morning and offered prayers to Lord Shiva . He performed ‘Jalabhishek’ of Baba Kusheshwarnath, and prayed for the prosperity of the state, well-being of people and strengthening of the BJP.
Throughout the journey to Kusheshwar Asthan, party workers welcomed him at various points.
After Kusheshwar Ashthan, Saraogi visited the ancient Jwalamukhi Temple at Kasraur, a Shakti Peeth, where devotees believe the Goddess bestows special blessings and fulfilment of wishes. He then offered prayers at Nawada Bhagwati Temple, regarded as a historically significant centre of Shakti worship in the Mithila region.
Saraogi also visited Shyama Mai Temple in Darbhanga town, Maa Haihatt Devi, Jagdamba Dham at Nawada, Benipur, and Baba Hazarinath Temple, seeking divine blessings at each sacred site.
Saraogi also visited Shri Shyam Baba Temple in Shivajinagar, where he paid obeisance to Khatu Naresh. Thereafter, he visited the temple of his ‘kul guru’ at Gandhi Chowk.
Saraogi was accorded a grand welcome by the party workers at multiple locations with drumbeats, slogans and petal showers, turning the entire city into a festive spectacle.
At his Darbhanga residence, a continuous stream of well-wishers were turning up to congratulate him.
