Seven Punjabi youths stranded in Tajikistan to return to India on Monday: MP Vikramjit Singh Sahney
PTC News Desk: Seven Punjabi youths stranded in Tajikistan will be repatriated to India on Monday, Rajya Sabha MP Vikramjit Singh Sahney confirmed on Thursday.
The youth had released a distressing video on October 19 alleging severe mistreatment by their employers in Rogan town after getting defrauded by a fraudulent agent in India.
Reacting swiftly, the Rajya Sabha MP said that he had taken the matter with the Indian Embassy in Tajikistan and assured their safe return, underscoring that the safety and dignity of every Indian abroad is of utmost importance.
“The safety and dignity of every Indian abroad is paramount,” Sahney said, adding that his office remained in constant touch with the stranded men, sharing their Google location and passport details with Indian officials.
He also wrote to the Indian Ambassador in Tajikistan, urging immediate action and offered to personally sponsor their air tickets to expedite their repatriation.
Sahney also expressed gratitude towards Indian Embassy for what he described as 'prompt and proactive response' calling the timely action as a reflection of India's committment to safeguarding its citizens abroad.
He also reiterated strict action against fraudulent travel agents who manipulate youths with false job promises.
