A disturbing incident has come to light from Chhattisgarh’s Korba district, where a 19-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped by five men, including a driver attached to the police Dial-112 emergency response service. The involvement of a person linked to emergency policing has sparked public outrage and brought embarrassment to the police department.
Incident Took Place In Bankimongra Area
According to police, the crime occurred late Thursday night in the Bankimongra area. One of the accused, who was known to the survivor, allegedly called her out of her home and took her to a secluded location. There, four other men were waiting, including the Dial-112 driver. The accused allegedly took turns to sexually assault the girl before fleeing the spot, leaving her unconscious.
Survivor Reaches Home, Family Seeks Help
After regaining consciousness, the survivor reportedly managed to return home and informed her family about the ordeal. The family immediately rushed her to a medical college hospital, where she is currently undergoing treatment. Doctors are monitoring her condition closely, and counselling support has also been arranged.
Zero FIR Registered, Case Transferred
Police initially registered the case as a zero FIR at the Civil Lines police station. It was later transferred to the Bankimongra police station for further investigation, as the incident occurred within its jurisdiction.
Two Accused Arrested, Three Absconding
Korba Superintendent of Police Siddharth Tiwari confirmed that two of the five accused, including the Dial-112 driver, have been arrested. “Teams have been formed to trace the remaining three accused. They will be arrested soon,” he said.
Forensic Probe And Police Action Underway
Forensic teams have examined the crime scene, and police are recording statements of witnesses and the survivor’s family. Authorities have assured that strict legal action will be taken against all the accused once they are in custody.
