Shocking Delhi Incident: Wife Pours Boiling Oil And Chili On Sleeping Husband
A shocking domestic violence case has surfaced from South Delhi’s Madangir, where pharmaceutical worker Dinesh Kumar was severely burned after his wife, Sadhna, allegedly poured boiling oil and red chilli powder on him while he slept. The horrifying incident took place in the early hours of October 3.
Dinesh had returned home late from work on October 2, had dinner, and gone to bed alongside his wife and daughter. Around 3:15 am, he woke up to a sudden burning pain on his torso. According to police, Sadhna poured hot oil on him and added red chilli powder to the burns, threatening, “Agar shor machaya toh aur tel dalungi (Will pour more oil if you scream).”
Unable to contain his screams, Dinesh alarmed neighbors and his landlord, Nathuram, who called his brother-in-law, Ram Sagar. He was rushed to Madan Mohan Malviya Hospital and later referred to Safdarjung Hospital for specialized treatment.
“The Ambedkar Nagar police station received a MLC (Medico-Legal Certificate) report from Madan Mohan Malviya Hospital regarding a burn injury case. The MLC stated that the patient had been burnt by hot oil allegedly poured by his wife. Dinesh was subsequently referred to Safdarjung Hospital for further treatment,” said DCP (South) Ankit Chauhan.
Police described Dinesh’s injuries as “dangerous” scald burns. DCP (South) Ankit Chauhan confirmed that the Medico-Legal Certificate (MLC) from the hospital indicated the burns were caused by hot oil allegedly poured by his wife.
The couple, married for eight years, reportedly had a troubled relationship. Two years ago, Sadhna had filed a complaint with the Crime Against Women Cell, which was later resolved through mediation. Police sources said another complaint against Dinesh had been filed in recent months, and the couple had an argument on the day of the attack as well.
Sadhna has been arrested, and the case is under investigation. Authorities are looking into the motive behind the assault, highlighting the growing concerns over domestic violence even in long-standing marriages.
