Brijesh’s mother, who witnessed the incident, raised an alarm but was unable to save her son. The accused fled after committing the crime. Family members have linked the murder to an old financial dispute, the police said.

Priyadarshan Kumar Sudhanshu, the victim’s brother-in-law, alleged that Brijesh had taken a loan from his uncle for his sister’s wedding and had repaid the entire amount. “He also recently made an online payment of nearly Rs 1 lakh and had proof of it. Despite this, the dispute continued. Hrithik wants Brijesh’s property,” he claimed.

On receiving information, Parbatta SHO Pramod Kumar reached the spot with his team and sent the body to Khagaria sadar hospital for postmortem. “A case has been registered and a manhunt launched to nab the accused, who is absconding. Preliminary investigation suggests a personal financial dispute, but all angles are being probed. Raids are being conducted at multiple locations,” the SHO said.
