SHOs to adopt govt schools in Bagaha for students' safety
Bettiah: In charge superintendent of police, Bagaha police district in West Champaran, Kumari Nirmala, has launched a new initiative aimed at strengthening social responsibility and promoting safety and discipline among the school students.
Under this programme, station house officers (SHOs) from all 22 police stations in the district will now each adopt a govt school.

The in charge SP said on Wednesday that the primary objective of this step is to ensure a safe environment for students and inspire them towards a better lifestyle. She added that the initiative would help build stronger coordination between the police and the community, while also increasing trust among students towards the police. “Students will feel more confident in sharing any problems or concerns without hesitation,” she said.
The programme will also focus on spreading awareness among children about issues such as de-addiction, cleanliness, and social responsibilities.
Launching the campaign, the in charge SP adopted the Kasturba Balika Residential School in Parsa under Bagaha-1 block. She further said schools across different police station areas are currently being identified, and officers will soon adopt them.
Police officials will regularly visit these schools, interact with students, and raise awareness about safety, discipline, cybercrime, traffic rules, and self-defence. The initiative will not be limited to the adopted schools alone, as nearby institutions will also be monitored.
Special emphasis will be laid on the safety of girl students. Strict instructions have been issued for regular patrolling and surveillance around school premises to ensure a secure environment.
Mahesh Prasad, an advocate at Bagaha civil court, while praising the initiative, said the step will not only ensure the safety of children but also contribute to their overall development.
