Signature drive for Silchar flyover
Silchar: A students’ body demanding the construction of a flyover in Silchar on Thursday launched a large-scale signature campaign to press the state government to take up the project at the earliest.
The South Assam Flyover Demand Students’ Association, comprising students from various educational institutions in the city, said the petition would be submitted to the chief minister’s office to draw attention to what it described as a critical infrastructure requirement.
Addressing the media at Silchar Press Club, association member Aryan Roy, a student of Cachar College, said the drive began on Thursday with a target of collecting around 6,000 signatures within five to six days.
