Snow maps show 43 counties buried as 91cm blizzard hits the UK - full list

A new snow forecast shows much of England and Scotland blanketed.

UK weather maps show a number of counties blanketed by snow on February 16 as one area gets as much as 91cm.

WXCHARTS maps show all of Scotland and most of Northern England covered in snow.

A huge 91cm blizzard will hit the Scottish highlands, while North Yorkshire will see the heaviest snowfall in England with 35cm.

Staffordshire is the southernmost county expected to see snow on February 16, according to the forecast.

This comes as the Met Office forecasts snow to hit Northern England and parts of Scotland this week, with multiple weather warnings in place on Wednesday.

As for the period of February 8 - February 24, the Met Office forecast says snow is possible but mainly on higher ground.

It reads: "Cyclonic patterns are expected to dominate across the UK during mid-February. Frontal systems over the Atlantic are likely to approach the UK at times, tending to become slow moving as they encounter a blocking area of high pressure to the northeast.

"This will result in showers or longer spells of rain spreading across the UK, these heavy at times.

"Rainfall amounts will probably be highest in parts of the west, including across areas already sensitive to flooding. As these bands of rain spread northwards, snow is possible across northern England and Scotland, mainly over high ground. Strong winds could develop in places, especially coasts.

"Temperatures will probably be close to normal overall, with any cold conditions more likely in the north."
