‘Sorry Mummy…’: Delhi Class 10 Student Jumps From Metro Station, Allegedly Blames Teachers
A heartbreaking incident in Delhi has raised serious concerns about student mental well-being and school environments. A Class 10 student at a reputed school died by suicide after jumping from a Metro station, leaving behind a note in which he blamed his teachers for driving him to the extreme step.
In his note, the 16-year-old wrote, "Sorry mummy, aapka itni bar dil toda, ab last bar todunga. School ki teachers ab hai hi aise, kya bolu."
Family Alleges Mental Harassment
The boy’s father has filed a police case accusing three teachers and the school’s principal of consistently mentally harassing his son. He said the harassment became so severe that the boy felt cornered with no way out.
On Tuesday, the teenager left home at his regular time of 7:15 am. Hours later, the family received a call that he had been found grievously injured near Rajendra Place Metro Station. When taken to BL Kapoor Hospital, doctors declared him dead.
Threats and Humiliation Reported
According to the FIR, the boy’s friends informed his father that one teacher had allegedly been threatening him over the past four days, warning that he would be expelled and issued a transfer certificate.
Another teacher reportedly pushed him on an earlier occasion.
Incident During Dramatics Class
On the day of the tragedy, the student fell during a dramatics class, after which a teacher allegedly mocked him for “overacting.” The father said his son was scolded until he started crying, but the teacher told him he could cry as much as he wanted as it made no difference. The principal was reportedly present and failed to intervene.
Complaints Were Ignored
The family said the boy had earlier reported mental harassment at school, and complaints were made, but no action was taken. The father told PTI that they hesitated to take stronger steps because board exams were approaching.
"His exams were due in one or two months. Twenty marks come from the school. I did not want to disturb anything," he explained. The family had promised to shift schools after exams.
Suicide Note Reveals Final Wishes
The boy’s suicide note, found in his bag, also included instructions to call a specific number and expressed regret over his decision. He asked for his organs to be donated “if any of my body works or is in condition to work” to help someone in need.
He named the principal and two teachers, stating that his last wish was for action to be taken against them so no other student faces a similar fate.
He apologised to his elder brother and father for not living up to their expectations, while thanking his mother for her continuous support.
His note ended with a final emotional message:
"I am sorry but teachers ne aisa kiya hai mere saath."
