Stop escalating land grievances up hierarchy: Deputy CM to officials
Patna: Deputy CM and revenue-cum-land reforms minister Vijay Kumar Sinha on Friday directed officials to stop the practice of forwarding landholders’ complaints up the hierarchy, and instead ensure their timely resolution at the appropriate level.
Sinha said land-related complaints should be resolved within a fortnight. He issued the directive at the “land reforms public welfare dialogue” that he held at his official residence where officials and employees of the Patna district revenue land reforms department (RLRD) down to the circle level, on the one hand, and landholders, on the other, were present.

He asked the senior district authorities to identify the department’s personnel and officials who abetted in the preparation of forged documents for the sale and purchase of land.
“All the DMs should prepare and submit reports, so that action could be taken against such officials and employees,” Sinha said, adding that the land reforms public welfare dialogue of the landowners and officials would be held in all the districts over the next 100 days.
Calling the persistent land-related problems and tendency to delay the solution a kind of disease, Sinha told the employees and officials of the department that they should shed the “habit of referring the complaints of the landowners to the higher authorities”, and any dereliction in duty on this count would not be excused.
At the meeting, Sinha personally heard the complaints of the landowners, and also gave instructions to the officials and employees to attend to their problems sincerely. He also told the landowners to file their complaints at a lower level and take their receipts. “Only after this, they should submit complaints to the department’s secretary and deputy CM for the resolution of the problems. The officials negligent of their duties will not be spared,” he added.
He also asked the circle officers (COs) to submit reports about pending cases within a week, and also directed them to solve all land-related complaints within a fortnight.
