Tamil Nadu polls: Stalin meets DMK leaders, discusses arrangements for May 4
CHENNAI: Chief minister M K Stalin on Thursday discussed counting day arrangements with party seniors at DMK headquarters in Chennai on Thursday.
A day after returning from his holiday in Kodaikanal, Stalin visited Anna Arivalayam and held a meeting with party seniors such as water resources minister Duraimurugan , PWD minister E V Velu, housing minister S Muthusamy, agriculture minister M R K Panneerselvam, organizational secretary R S Bharathi, and former minister V Senthilbalaji.

Bharathi told TOI that the chief minister discussed counting day arrangements with the leaders.
“Stalin issued instructions about appointing polling agents and making arrangements from the party’s side on the day of vote counting. As he came to Chennai only on Wednesday, candidates and party seniors also met him to talk about the polling situation in their respective constituencies,” Bharathi said.
Calling this meeting ‘routine’, Bharathi said candidates usually meet party leaders after the elections.
“This has been the practice since the days of Kalaignar (late chief minister M Karunanidhi), where the candidates used to meet him and brief him about the day of polling and the situation in their constituencies. Similarly, on Thursday too, we discussed the constituencies and the work of the candidates,” the organizational secretary said.
Apart from candidates, Stalin met ministers who were in charge of various districts and inquired about the winning chances in their region. Sources in DMK said he inquired about the winning chances for DMK in Coimbatore.
Meanwhile, Duraimurugan told reporters after the meeting that the chances of victory are bright for DMK.
“Only DMK has chances for winning the election. It is foolishness if someone else says they have chances of victory,” he said.
The DMK general secretary said the party is not worried about exit polls. “DMK will form govt with a majority on its own,” Duraimurugan said.
