This Morning star Sam Thompson updated fans about his health ahead of surgery. The presenter posted the news from his hospital bed as he revealed he would be put to sleep. Sam explained doctors had discovered a cyst on his vocal cords which resulted in him losing his voice. The 33-year-old took to his Instagram Stories on Tuesday and shared he was awaiting the procedure while wearing a hospital gown.

In the video, he began: "I'm having vocal cord surgery. This has been in the diary for awhile. I have a cyst on my vocal cords. It's because I shout too much.

"I keep losing my voice. I easily lose my voice even if I shout once."

Sam continued: "Yup... they're cutting out. I've never been put to sleep before. And I've got my numbing cream on my hand."
