Thunderstorm and lightning alert across Bihar for next 2 days
Patna: India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued thunderstorm and lightning alerts for all districts over the next two days, with nine — West and East Champaran, Gopalganj, Siwan, Saran, Samastipur, Begusarai, Khagaria and Jamui — likely to receive heavy rainfall on Tuesday. Due to the existing weather conditions, maximum temperature has declined to 28-30 degrees Celsius in most districts.
“Thunderstorm, lightning and strong winds (30-40 km per hour) are likely at one or two places in the northern, south-central and south-eastern parts of the state,” a bulletin said.
Meanwhile, moderate to heavy rainfall is expected at a few places in the northern and southern districts, including Patna, Buxar, Bhojpur, Rohtas, Aurangabad, Gaya, Nalanda, Begusarai, Lakhisarai and Jehanabad for the next two days.
“A cyclonic condition is located over northeast Bangladesh, extending between 3.1 and 5.8km above sea level. A cyclonic circulation is also located over central Assam, extending 3.1km above mean sea level,” an IMD official said.
Meanwhile, as many as 14 districts, including Patna, Gaya, Saran, Vaishali, Samastipur, Sitamarhi, Madhubani, Darbhanga, Saharsa and Khagaria, received more than normal rainfall on Monday. Khagaria recorded the highest rainfall at 158mm, followed by Vaishali and Gaya.
On Tuesday, the maximum temperature will remain in the range of 28-30 degrees Celsius in all northern and south-eastern districts, and 30-32 degrees Celsius in rest of the state. On the other hand, the minimum temperature of the state is likely to be in the range of 24-26 degrees Celsius for the next three days.
“No major change is likely to occur in the maximum temperature in most parts of the state for the next four days, and rise thereafter. The minimum temperature will remain similar for the next five days,” the bulletin said.
