Tottenham trump Man Utd as players and under-fire Igor Tudor exposed by £760m valuation
Tottenham Hotspur sit 16th in the Premier League while Manchester United are third. However, from a valuation perspective, the North Londoners boast a squad which is worth £137million more than United.
Last season, Tottenham secured their passage into the Champions League by overcoming United 1-0 in the Europa League final. In the Premier League, Tottenham finished 17th while United limped to a 15th placed finish. Things could not be any different this year, as Michael Carrick has dragged the Red Devils up to third, while Spurs are sinking under Tudor.
Embattled Spurs boss Igor Tudor watched his £763million-valued squad thrashed 5-2 by Atletico Madrid in their Champions League round of 16 first leg. Tudor, 47, made the most audacious call of his brief tenure unravel within 15 minutes. Antonin Kinsky committed two monumental errors in the Spanish capital, after Tudor had axed Guglielmo Vicario from the starting lineup in favour of the 22-year-old Czech.

Judging by their positions, it's difficult to believe Tottenham's squad is valued at around £763m and United's is £626m. According to BetVictor, only Arsenal (£2.2bn), Liverpool (£1.8bn), Manchester City (£1.1bn) and Chelsea (£1bn) boast more valuable squads than Tottenham.
This financial backdrop only casts a harsher spotlight on Tottenham's shortcomings this campaign. Sacking Ange Postecoglou after winning the Europa League and appointing Thomas Frank did little to improve matters, while Tudor has presided over four defeats in four matches since he took over from the latter.
football.london also report that Tudor has succeeded in antagonising numerous members of the current Spurs squad. Circumstances could deteriorate for the north Londoners before any improvement materialises. A daunting away fixture at Anfield against Liverpool awaits them this weekend.

Meanwhile, the picture for United is a lot brighter. While their recent 2-1 away defeat to Newcastle United was their first under Carrick, they remain in the top three and are on course for automatic Champions League qualification.
The ex-England midfielder has guided United to six victories, one draw and one defeat since he replaced Ruben Amorim at the start of 2026. United host Aston Villa in what could be a pivotal clash in the race for the top four.
With the Premier League in pole position to be granted another place in the Champions League, finishing in the top five may be enough to get the Reds into Europe's elite competition.
