Trump launches extraordinary attack on Pope demanding 'don't criticise me'
President Trump has launched an extraordinary attack on the Pope, demanding he doesn't "criticise the President".
The rant was posted on his social media site claims that the Pope is "weak on Crime, and terrible for Foreign Policy."
The US President continues to strike the Catholic church, mentioning the 2020 Covid pandemic in which he claims priests were getting arrested due to holding church services.
In the continued criticism, Trump makes a personal attack on Pope Leo, adding, "I like his brother Louis much better".
The post reads: "I don't want a Pope who thinks it's OK for Iran to have a Nuclear Weapon. I don't want a Pope who thinks it's terrible that America attacked Venezuela, a Country that was sending massive amounts of Drugs into the United States and, even worse, emptying their prisons, including murderers, drug dealers, and killers, into our Country.
And I don't want a Pope who criticizes the President of the United States because I'm doing exactly what I was elected, IN A LANDSLIDE, to do...
"Leo should get his act together as Pope, use Common Sense, stop catering to the Radical Left, and focus on being a Great Pope, not a Politician."
The criticism comes after the Pope stepped into the political arena at a prayer service in Vatican City on Saturday. He urged world leaders to stop and called for peace.
Speaking during an evening peace vigil at St Peter's Basilica in Vatican City on Saturday, the first US-born pope issued a direct appeal to world leaders to return to negotiations.
Leading the service he said: "Enough of the idolatry of self and money! Enough of the display of power! Enough of war! True strength is shown in serving life."
Although the Iran-US conflict was not specifically mentioned the remarks came as negotiations between the two nations took place in Pakistan.
Leo also warned against what he called "that delusion of omnipotence that surrounds us and is becoming increasingly unpredictable and aggressive".
Speaking to reporters at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland Trump made further swipes at the Pope. He said: "We don't like a Pope that's gonna say it's OK to have a nuclear weapon! That says crime is OK in our cities!"
"He doesn't want us toying with a country that wants a nuclear weapon so they can blow up the world.
"I'm not a fan of Pope Leo."
His comments come as the President claims that Iran 'still want' a nuclear weapon follwoing the 21 hour long peace talks.
Trump reiterated on Sunday evening that Iran are 'in very bad shape'.
He added: "And just so you understand, Iran will not have a nuclear weapon. Will not have."
