Donald Trump left viewers baffled with a bizarre "ramble" during a speech on Thursday (February 5). Speaking at the 74th National Prayer Breakfast, a yearly event held in Washington, DC, the US President descended into a bizarre rant about sleeping on planes.

"You can go and sleep. We have quarters prepared for you. I said: 'No no, I don't have to sleep. I've been on a plane sleeping for twenty... I mean, I sleep on the plane,'" he said. "I don't sleep on planes. I don't like sleeping on planes. You know, I like looking out the window watching for missiles and enemies, actually." The quip was sparked laughter from the audience. It did not take long for X users to take to the comments to share their concerns about Mr Trump's mental health. "The decline is very apparent," one wrote, while another said: "Classic Trump ramble half joke, half bravado, veering from sleep talk to missiles in one breath. Unfiltered and very on brand."

"I don't believe [...] Donald Trump is alright regarding his mental health," a third wrote, while another asked: "Beyond still being able to sign his name, is there anything he's mentally capable of performing?"

Another questioned: "Seriously, how is it possible that this person is president of the USA?"

The president has long been known to avoid sleeping while flying on Air Force One. His joke about looking for missiles came as he recounted the first meeting with Daniel "Raizin" Caine, who now serves as chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, about defeating ISIS during his first term. Mr Caine told Mr Trump that an area had been prepared for him to nap during the 20-hour journey, which Mr Trump refused, so the pair could discuss strategies to wipe out ISIS.

Mr Trump joined the National Prayer Breakfast on Thursday morning, which brings together bipartisan lawmakers, business leaders and foreign dignitaries to reflect on faith and prayer for the nation. It was the sixth time Mr Trump has attended the event since his first administration in 2017.

Mr Trump continued his speech by taking a victory lap for the strength of the US military under his second term, including capturing Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and striking Iran's nuclear facilities.

"Two years ago, you couldn't get anybody to go into the military. They laughed at you and they said they didn't respect our country. They didn't respect our president. They thought he was a joke. They thought our country was a joke," he said. "Other countries laughed at us and took advantage of us with tariffs. And we weren't allowed to charge, and they were allowed to charge. But we are allowed to charge, and I hope we get that Supreme Court decision, because we have taken in hundreds of billions of dollars of money."
