Udaipur: IT Firm Manager Gang-Raped In A Moving Car; CEO Among Three Detained
A woman working as a manager in a private IT firm has accused senior members of her company of sexually assaulting her during a late-night car ride in Udaipur. The complaint names the firm’s CEO and the husband of a senior executive as the main accused, with the incident allegedly occurring after an office celebration.
According to police, the alleged crime took place on December 20 after a birthday and New Year party organised for the CEO at a hotel in the city.
Alleged Assault In Moving Vehicle
The survivor stated that the party began around 9 pm and continued until nearly 1.30 am. As other guests left the venue, she was allegedly offered a lift home by the accused. She claimed that the CEO, the executive head’s husband, and the executive head herself were present in the vehicle when the assault occurred.
Police said that during the drive, the group stopped at a shop and gave the woman something resembling cigarettes. Soon after consuming it, she allegedly lost consciousness.
Realisation The Next Morning
The woman told police that she became aware of the sexual assault only the following morning. Despite her repeated requests to be dropped home, she was allegedly taken back only around 5 am.
She later reviewed audio and video footage from the car’s dashcam, which she claimed recorded the entire incident. Based on this, she approached the police and filed a formal complaint on December 23.
Police Detain Three Accused
Following the complaint, Udaipur police registered a gang-rape case and initiated an investigation through the women’s crime unit, led by Additional SP Madhuri Verma. All three accused, including one woman, were detained on Wednesday and questioned.
Medical Examination And Next Steps
Udaipur Superintendent of Police Yogesh Goyal confirmed that a medical examination of the survivor has been conducted and the report is awaited.
“Based on the complaint, a case has been registered against three accused. The accused have been detained and are being interrogated. Further action will be taken following the medical examination report and statements," SP Goyal said.
Police said the investigation is ongoing, with a focus on verifying digital evidence, tracing the sequence of events, and recording statements of all concerned.
