Crowd Scrambles for Snacks

Videos circulating online show men, women, children, and even the elderly pushing and snatching packets of chips. People fell over each other in the frenzy, while a groom was seen running off with a packet. Eyewitnesses said no officials were present to control the crowd.

Social Media Reacts

The video went viral on X (formerly Twitter), with users expressing disbelief. Comments ranged from frustration to sharp societal critiques: “Bharat mein free mein khane ke liye hod machi rahti hai,” wrote one, while another added, “Think about it, they’re doing this for a packet of chips, what kind of mentality must these people have had.”

Of the 383 couples, 380 married according to Hindu traditions, and three under the Islamic Nikah tradition. The ceremony succeeded in joining lives but failed to contain the frenzy over food, leaving a memorable, and chaotic scene in Hamirpur.
