Vigilance Investigation Bureau nabs revenue staff, SI in separate bribery cases
Patna: The Vigilance Investigation Bureau (VIB) sleuths on Tuesday arrested revenue employee Raja Kumar while he was accepting Rs1 lakh in cash as bribe at the circle office at Masaurhi in Patna district.
The case originated from a complaint filed by Ravish Kumar, son of Mahendra Singh and resident of Dhanauti in Jehanabad district. He alleged that the revenue employee was demanding a bribe for facilitating land clearance procedures . Upon receiving the complaint at the VIB police station in Patna, the officers promptly verified the allegations.

“Evidence confirmed the demand for a bribe, leading to the registration of a formal case on Monday. An investigation team was constituted under the supervision of deputy superintendent of police, Mohammad Wasim Firoz. The team laid a trap and apprehended Raja while he was accepting Rs1 lakh in cash from the complainant on Tuesday morning at the circle office. The money was recovered as an evidence,” the officials said.
The DSP said following the arrest, the accused was interrogated. He is scheduled to be produced before the Special Court of Vigilance in Patna. The investigation remains ongoing to uncover any further involvement or related irregularities.
In another anti-corruption step, the VIB team arrested sub-inspector (SI) Kanhaiya Singh red-handed while he was accepting a bribe of Rs40,000 at a tea shop in Siwan district on Tuesday.
The arrest pertains to a case registered on Dec 22 by the complainant Sunil Kumar, a resident of Falpura under GB Nagar police station area in Siwan. In his complaint, he alleged that Kanhaiya, posted at Siswan police station, demanded the bribe to remove his sister’s name from case number 309/25.
The officers verified the complaint, gathered prima facie evidence of the bribe demand, and swiftly registered the case. An investigation team was constituted under deputy superintendent of police Biplab Kumar. The team laid a trap and caught the SI at a tea shop, located at Maharana Pratap Chowk on Siwan-Raghunathpur Road.
