A startling yet comical video from Gujarat’s Junagadh district has taken social media by storm, showing an unplanned encounter between a man and a lion — and their equally surprising reactions. The footage, filmed outside the Aadhar Cement Factory in Patapur village, was shared by Indian Forest Officer Susanta Nanda and has quickly gone viral for its unusual twist.

In the clip, a man is seen walking out of the factory late at night, around 10 pm, just as a lion approaches from the opposite direction. As they round a corner, both suddenly find themselves face-to-face. Startled, the man and the lion instantly turn and dash away from each other, creating what viewers have dubbed a “reverse chase.”

"A worker of the cement factory at Junagarh & a free roaming lion accidentally meet each other. Both panic. You have just witnessed the rare reverse chase," wrote Mr Nanda in his caption.

The short yet gripping video has amused thousands online, with many marvelling at the lion’s unexpected flight. The incident also sheds light on the increasing number of human-wildlife encounters in Gujarat’s forested and semi-urban areas.

One viewer remarked, "Think he never got cautious despite dogs giving those warnings and alarm calls. A lesson for life, probably. Dogs they give amazing alarm calls in the night and especially for leopards. One ought to keep the guard and vigil around any such abnormal behaviour of these Mongrels and Strays, especially around wilderness."

Another comment read, "Sudden unexpected encounter with a human evoked a 'flight response' even in a Lion."

Others found the moment hilarious, with one user calling it "Fantastic video... reverse chase of man and tiger," while another noted, "We give them more reasons to be afraid of us, no wonder she ran away."

The video continues to circulate widely, prompting discussions about coexistence, safety, and the unpredictable nature of wildlife encounters in human habitats.
