A Russian woman living in Jaipur has won the internet’s attention with her humorous take on crossing roads the “Indian way.” Her light-hearted tutorial, shared on Instagram, has sparked both admiration and debate among social media users.

Vera Prokofeva, who has made Jaipur her home, posted the clip with the caption: “The first rule you need to learn in India is how to cross the road.” The video has already crossed 2,26,000 views, drawing reactions from viewers across the globe.

In the short video, Vera turns to her friend and says, “I’ll teach you how to cross the road.” She then demonstrates the process, using clear hand gestures to signal approaching drivers to slow down or stop.

“You need to show them you are stopping them, and then walk to the other side,” she explains, before confidently walking across to the other side of the street. The clip ends with her gleefully declaring, “Mission complete successfully!”

The playful demonstration didn’t go unnoticed by Instagram users. One comment read, “You just hacked Jaipur traffic like a pro!” Another chimed in, “I am from Jaipur too, I can totally relate – it works.”

However, not everyone was convinced about the safety of the method. A cautious user warned, “Be careful, not every time do drivers stop their cars.”

Vera’s road-crossing tip, though tongue-in-cheek, has fuelled a broader conversation about navigating India’s famously unpredictable traffic and the unspoken “rules” that locals and seasoned visitors alike pick up over time.
